Major-General Raymond Briggs CB DSO (1895-1984) was a British Army officer who led 2nd Armoured Brigade at the Second Battle of El Alamein.
Briggs served in World War I with the Machine Gun Corps receiving his commission in 1915.[1] He was appointed Deputy Assistant Director for Mechanized Warfare at the War Office in 1936.[1] He served in World War II as a General Staff Officer before becoming Commander of 2nd Armoured Brigade in 1940 leading his brigade at the First and Second Battle of El Alamein in 1942.[1] He was appointed CB for this role.[2] He was made General Officer Commanding 1st Armoured Division in 1942 and Director of the Royal Armoured Corps at the War Office in 1943.[1] He retired in 1947.[1]
